Headsets in Education

Education, of course, is a type of communication and, as such, a good headset can be very useful for many scenarios.

EPOS ( aka EPOS | Sennheiser ) design and manufacture many headsets which are supremely suited to the education arena, be it in class, at university or remote/ hybrid situations.

A headset allows two way communication whilst creating a focus zone for the wearer. This can greatly enhance the learning experience. Headsets can also be used for listening to podcasts, lectures, audiobooks or just music.

Headsets in the Classroom

In the classroom the sort of headset that is most desirable is the most simple one. In general we would look at a basic plug and play USB headset.

It is, of course, important that the headset is comfortable, durable, easy to use and that they convey audio clearly.

Compatibility with popular Unified Communications platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Google Classroom is also important.

Headsets for Home Study

Many students study at home for various reasons. The pandemic has had its influence on this but remote courses are increasing in popularity for many subjects.

Working at home can bring in distractions so good Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is desirable to allow more focus and concentration.

As with all situations a well made, comfortable headset with clear sound will make home study sessions more productive.

Headsets at University

University students need flexible, reliable headsets to help them stay focused across different locations and study disciplines.

EPOS noise cancelling technology ensures students can follow virtual lectures clearly and actively participate in online group discussions.

Students are also quite happy with a headset that also provides a Bluetooth connection for music appreciation.

SUMMARY

For students in classrooms we suggest the EPOS EDU Series – available as mono EPOS EDU 11 or stereo versions EPOS EDU 12.

Home schoolers may like the option of either the ADAPT 160 which offers USB connectivity or a wireless option with the EPOS | SENNHEISER IMPACT SDW 5011 DECT Headset .

Whilst any of the headsets above will be suited to University life, the very fact that older students are more likely to study in various locations tends to make the headset choice lean towards Bluetooth making headsets such as the ADAPT 560 II or the ADAPT 660. These are also great for listening to music.
